Ian Collins

Ian Collins is a radio & TV presenter, writer and columnist. He is also a member of the Westminster Press Gallery. He began his career working with Invicta FM in Kent, presenting the award-winning Ian Collins’ Late Bit. He was soon poached by the opposition BBC to host both The Breakfast Show and the live current affairs programme, The Bigger Issue.

National radio was never far away and Ian soon became part of the UK’s first national commercial talk station, Talk Radio. Presenting Ian Collins and the Creatures of the Night the programme soon gained nationwide cult-status and led him into writing, voicing and the world of television.

Ian is now a regular on TV both as presenter and pundit. This Week, Daily Politics, Newsnight, The Money Programme, Richard & Judy, Sky News, BBC News and London Tonight are amongst his recent appearances.

As Talk Radio became Talksport Ian continued to present on the non-sports side and remained the main current affairs presenter of the station. He was eventually handed the prestigious Late Show - a mixture of current affairs, comedy, guests and phone in. The Guardian recently wrote that “Ian Collins brings current affairs into the 21st Century”. This perhaps best describes Ian’s style; a modern and slightly quirky approach to contemporary news-based issues. His recent list of studio guests and interviewees include Jeff Garlin, Stephen Fry and The Prime Minister.

Ian also wrote the book I Bet You Won’t read This - a humorous look a the kind of letters and emails listeners send in to radio programmes. He is currently compiling his second, 87 People I’d Like to Slap.
